Inexpensive/free FTP hosting service recommendations

This NG might not be the best one to ask for such recommendations but I
don't know a better one and this group I visit often and it seems to be
the a place of real computing diversity.

I've been looking for an FTP cloud service but most of what I find seem
to be tailored for web hosting. I, on the other hand, just want a simple
remote storage place for my home security camera's video clips. If
anybody here found an inexpensive hosting service for such a need, I
would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks.

Dropbox, no need for FTP.

If the camera requires FTP, setup Filezilla FTP server and point to the
Dropbox directory.

Or, get a low priced unlimited plan from Dreamhost. See my shameful
plug in the sig. (I get free credits if you sign up using my link).

Unfortunately I do need FTP because my IP cam has the FTP client built
in and needs to access the server without my PC being on. I assume it
also makes fairly frequent log-ins when there is activity in its view. I
don't know for sure, as I haven't tried it yet. Some hosting services
might not like it.

The Dreamhost price looks good but does it sport a standard FTP
interface? I don't see any info on it. Some fancy web interface with
manual entry of scrambled characters (to defeat automated log-ins) would
not work for me. BTW, I would not need more than 2 or 3 GBs as the video
clips would be deleted after a few days.

I just referred someone to the cheapest plan on plothost.com, the tech
support was excellent, 2 email replies in 10 min's! $2.95/mo

Yes, it has a standard interface via FTP client, or even WebFTP if you
want.

To setup your own FTP server is too hard for average users. It requires a physical server, and to make it secure, the server should be placed in an offsite location. Otherwise, the server and the recorded data can be destroyed. It would be much easier to use www.cameraftp.com service. Not only it is easier, but also it is far more secure and reliable, and with our CameraShow feature, you can monitor the scene remotely, or play back recorded images remotely.
