My computer keeps freezing and I have to hold down the power button to shut it down. Nothing in the event log except a complaint about it not shutting down properly (I assume this complaint is logged upon startup and not during the freeze or hard power off).
How in the world do I trace and troubleshoot this? I did recently reinstall windows and I'm using WHQL drivers for everything.
I've got a dual boot (linux) on my non windows HD and that has never frozen. My windows install freezes on average every 1-3 hours. The PC was very dusty inside but I cleaned it out today with compressed air so all the fans are spinning freely and without blockage. The CPU heatsink was very dusty. I thought this might have been causing overheating or something, but cleaning it out didn't help.
Basic pc specs are:
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
2-Core AMD A6-5400K APU
Radeon HD 7540D
Asus F2A85-M (A85X FCH Hudson D4)
HDA-Intel - HD-Audio Generic
8GB
ATA ST3500418AS (500GB)
ATA ST1000DM003-1CH1 (1TB, Boot)
ATA ST1000DM003-1CH1 (1TB)
