On the security and virus forum, I was told that I could remove or disable Windows Defender. However, I can't find the program in the Add/Remove Programs, or anywhere else within the control panel. But I know that it's there, because it displayed that it needed to run a scan, and I allowed it to. But when I had this program on XP Pro, it slowed my laptop down, and I was getting messages everytime I added a program. I don't need a program telling me whether or not to add a program. Also, when I download something, I ALWAYS scan it with Avast. I hope that I'm posting in the proper place, as this is not about virus or security, but how to remove or disable unwanted software. Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
