CPU Optimization in Windows 7

My CPU is an Intel E8500 and I just recently installed Windows 7 beta. After installation and updating all drivers etc, I ran 3D Vantage benchmark. My CPU score dropped from 33K down to 8K. The 33K score was in Vista x64 and the 8K score was in Windows 7 respectively.

Honestly I'm not quite sure what this means, however shouldn't the score remain the same or become slightly higher? This is making me wonder if CPU and/or chipsets are optimized in Windows 7. My motherboard is an eVGA 780i

Strike that. I just installed the nVidia 181.71 video drivers and the score is back up to 33k.

Glad they are back on target :) Did you install the Windows beta 7 drivers, or the Vista ones?
