CD Share

OldGuy

I used to be able to share my DVD/CD from one PC to another but I
cannot figure it out now. Both on my home LAN.

PC with the DVD/CD is Win 7 Pro 64x all updates installed.

PC wanting to see the DVD/CD is a Win XP Pro 32x all updates installed.

How to I configure the Win 7 PC?
How do I configure the Win XP PC?

I did try to do the share from the Win 7 PC but cannot see it at the
Win XP PC. The Win 7 PC shows a two-person icon.

I assigned a name to the share but I do not see it. I checked all
permissions.

TIA

Have you followed the steps in this tutorial?

You have to use a Work Group.

I never tried to share a cd/dvd drive, but I assume there must be a disc
in the drive ?!?

Update.

1) that link was mostly about printer sharing. For some reason that
all worked before.

2) the only thing I found that might apply was that the W7 password
requirement was ON so I turned it OFF and, thank you very much, now I
can see the W7 PC from my Win XP PC.

3) Yes the DVD is visible now on the XP PC and the contents of the
inserted DVD is accessible.

Thanks!
:')

Yep, I was going to suggest turning the password option off next, that
link made some allusions to the password option, I think.
