Since I upgraded from xp to windows 7 I have been getting the BSOD. It usually happens while I am doing something graphically intense (like playing a game), but will also occasionally occur while the computer is idle. I have tried everything i can think to fix it. I have done memtest, processor tests, HDD tests, and graphic card test. I have even tried a complete re install several times. I am pretty sure its driver related, but I can not figure out which driver it is.

I have:
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Intel core 2 duo E8500
Asus P5E3 pro motherboard
(2*2GB) DDR3 1600
XFX Radeon HD 4870
Kingston 64GB SSD
Seagate 500GB HDD
Thermaltake 500watt power supply

Attached below are the dump files.
View attachment Minidump - Shortcut - Copy.zip

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi joe369 and Welcome to The Forum.

Unfortunately you've zipped up a shortcut to your Minidumps folder, not the folder itself.

Go to your C:\Windows\Minidump folder. Copy the .dmp files to a new folder on your desktop. Zip up that folder and attach to a post.

HTH! Elmer.

Hi joe369.

STOP 0x0000003B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
Usual causes:
System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory.

TURN OFF DRIVER VERIFIER !!!
To turn off Driver Verifier when finished, Open a Command Prompt or Run... window and type verifier /reset and press Enter/OK.
or
GoTo Start and in the Search or a Run... Window type verifier. Select Delete existing settings and press "Finish".

Your latest dump file lists dxgmms1.sys dxgmms1.sys which is a Windows System file but this crash was most likely caused by your video driver.
Download and install Driver Sweeper.
Uninstall your current Graphics Setup through Programs and Features
Boot to Safe Mode
Run Driver Sweeper to clean up remnants of your current Graphics SetUp..
Reboot to Normal Mode.
Install your new Graphics Drivers.

Old and incompatible drivers can and do cause issues with Windows 7, often giving false error codes. Random stop codes can often indicate hardware issues.

As a Priority:

A.V.G is known to be a cause of BSOD's on Windows 7 systems. Suggest that you uninstall it. Download the correct A.V.G Remover for your system (32 or 64 bit).
If you have A.V.G ID protection installed, download the A.V.GID Protection Remover from the above link as well (it wouldn't hurt to download and run it anyway). Download BSOD friendly Microsoft Security Essentials as A.V.G's replacement.
Uninstall A.V.G through the Control Panel. Re-boot to Safe Mode and run the A.V.G Removal tool(s). Re-boot to normal mode and install MSE. Make sure your Windows firewall is enabled!

I did everything you listed in the previous post, but the problem persists. It did not do the BSOD like it usually does, instead the graphics card stopped responding, the monitor said there was no signal, and then the audio turned into an annoying repetitive sound.

Please run these two tests.

Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

1-Memtest.

*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

2-System file check.

Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

It may need to be run up to three times before sucessful

Read here for more information http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Let us know the results from the report at the end.

ONE THING OF NOTE IS YOUR WORLD COMMUTING GRID WAS THE ACTIVE THREAD IN MOST OF THEM. i WOULD TRY DISABLING IT AT LEAST TO TEST.

I have run memtest more then enough to beyond sure that my memory is fine. I also ran the system file check and it did not find any integrity violations. As for World Community Grid the problem existed before I installed it. I am still waiting on my computer to make a crash report. It has a tendency to crash without fully crashing now, but i will post some as soon as I get them. Happy Halloween!!!

Happy holloween too Joe.

Since the memory appears ok have you run the driver verifier to find which driver is causing this mess?

I was running it until Elmer told me to turn it off in the first reply. I do not really know how to use driver verifier, just how to turn it on and off. Should I turn it back on and try to get the computer to crash?

Elmer was just saying dont leave verifier running. After you updated the drivers you should re-enable it as per the instructions. You can check to see if it is enabled by typing

verifier /query

If it returns no drivers being verified it isnt running.

Let us know if you need help

I turned on driver verifier, but the computer has not crashed yet. I also ran prime95 torture test, which had a few errors. I am not sure if that helps any though.
