Allocation of RAM memory in Windows 7.

With the usual suite of software Office10, Windows Media Centre, some
video programs sych as "VideoReDo", the RAM usage is 25 - 30% even
when nothing is running.

Is this normal, because even with the CPU (i7970) working at <5% the
RAM indicator in the "Resource Monitor" can show up to 50%?

Well, you have to say how much memory you have installed and whether
you're using 32-bit or 64-bit Win7?

CPU utilization and RAM utilization don't necessarily have much to do
with each other. One can be high while the other is low, both can be
high, both can be low, etc. Even though you say "nothing is running",
there are probably 4 or 5 dozen programs running in the background.

Run your usual programs and see what the utilization looks like then.
Those numbers are more important than the numbers you see when none of
your apps are running.
