Any one know of a good free Folder Size add on for Windows 7 64 bit Explorer? Cnet's folder size
is a no show, and Google shows many shareware's but no freebies

I don't know of a W/E add on, but FWIW there is a stand-alone utility that
works well.

you probably want one that simply reports the folder size in the column
that file sizes are reported in windows 7 explorer. unfortunately i
don't think that can be done and don't know of any add-ons.... hence
the above suggestions as to folder size browsing tools, of which there
are a ton.

Try Treesize free. Used it for years.

Please configure Forte Agent to insert a proper signature (which begins
with the "-- \n" sigdash delimiter line). All your political fluff and
unmunge instructions were in the *body* of your post and not in a

I also vote for Philip's suggestion of TreeSizeFree. You didn't mention
a requirement of free or if you were willing to buy payware. If you
want more, the Personal and Pro versions have more features. I've only
used the TreeSizeFree version.

I had TreeSize Personal installed but didn't use it that often. After
uninstalling it as part of my occasional host cleanup, I needed it again
so reinstalled it. Very handy when you need it.

Hmm, reminiscent of "Scanner", which has been around a while - works on

Not sure what you mean by 'integrate' but when you install Treesize with
the default options you get a right-click option on folders which does a
scan from that point down - really useful.

XP for the Win

It still hurts when XP had such a nice folder size add on that worked beautifully in details view.

Some one here said that you could not do it in Win 7 because it would take forever to load and data. -- Unfortunately that is not thinking very deeply about the solution. I have the same external hard drive the same NAS and the same size hard drive and the same total amount of data that I had two weeks ago on my XP box as I do today on my brand new Win 7.

So if win 7 can't do what my win XP could do more then 7 years ago the fault lies not with the size of data but either - no interest in writing the program - or crappy OS.

You be the judge.

I like win 7 because I can run 32G of ram and a cached SSD, but I got to say it is a RAM pig and lacks some of the taken for granted stuff I was used to like folder size.

PS. attaching comments to a file and sorting by in in detail view still SUCKS in win 7
