Win7 upgrade discs finally arrived

That was a bit of a long wait. I bought 2 new laptops just before xmas from
a UK retailer, who told me about the cheap Win7 upgrade from vi$ta. I
applied online on Tuesday 15th Dec, and was charged £ 21.42 each. Well i
thought i was as i gave my full card details. On the 12th Jan i received
payment instructions fro a wire transfer to MentorMedia in the Czech
Republic. Then found i couldn't send payments outside the uk and had to pay
a 3rd party £ 25.00 to do the wire transfers. On 18th Jan i was informed my
payment was successful, and the 24th Jan an email told me goods were ready
for shipping. They both arrived today ! Just seemed a long while, and a long
drawn out process. Plus not as cheap as the store had me to believe. I'm not
hard done by, just incase anybody is going through the same process -
thought it would be worthy of a mention !

Never, never, never use a wire transfer. It's a favorate method used by the
scammers.

Thanks for that :)
I am surprised, my experience with Comet has been very positive (household
appliances mainly, no computers).
Have you contacted their customer services and complained very loudly?
Making you use a wire transfer doesn't sound legitimate business practice,
maybe someone needs to be made aware of this.
Glad you got your purchases in the end, but having to wait that long is
outragous.
If that had happened to me, I would be quick to query this method of doing
business.

PS: I wonder if you mean PC World and not Comet.
PC World sell Advents, Comet doesn't :)

I think you'll find PC World, Comet and Dixons are all the same company now
anyway...

I am most probably wrong (happens a lot), but thought that Currys/PC
World/Dixons were one company and Comet another.
Will do some Googling to see who belongs to whom :)

After some Googling:

PC World is owned by DSG International plc.
Comet is owned by Kesa Electricals plc.

Long live Google :)

You may be right - it's all mixed up and they all sell the same things (more
or less) anyway! :)
