Hi Windows7 community,

I am building a media center, and I am debating between installing windows7 32 bit or 64 bit version.

Main set-up:
Motherboard: fatality f-190hd
CPU: Intel Multi Core duo 2.33gHZ
RAM: DDR2 2x2gb
dvb-s2 satellite TV card,

The media center will have a dvb-s2 satellite TV card, which is very demanding in resources.
There will be rarely the need of severe multitasking

Is there any point in choosing 64 bit for a media center?

Thanks

The biggest reason is the ability to use more ram (32bit OS's can only use around 3GB whereas 64bit can access much, much more), and the other reason would be future programs that may use the 64bit better than 32bit

As draceena said. Install the x64 Windows 7, it will fully utilize your RAM and other hardware.

Installing an x86 operating system with todays hardware is like buying a BMW 320i and putting an 8-track tape player in it.
