W7 Install Question

I'm looking at my win 7 cd that I bought at CompUSA. It is an OEM
systems builder pack and is intended for system builders only. Does
that mean I can install it on more than one system? Nothing is stated
that I can't. In fact it states that it can be pre installed on the
HD of assembled computer systems. But it states you have to use a OEM
Preinstallation Kit (OPK).

Multiple installations would have to each be registered with MS,
presumably with appropriate fees.

Disadvantages to the OEM CD:
1) You are not eligible for free support from MS. You will be told to
contact the computer maker (OEM) for support.
2) You can not use the installation DVD to renew or repair a previous
installation, only to install.

You can certainly reinstall Windows OS's using your OEM installation
disk. I always register mine and have had no trouble re-installing
various OEM Windows OS's (on the same original machine of course) and
have had no trouble re-installing. And not even a murmur from MS.--

You can install it on as many PCs as you want, that the point of that suite.
You will however need to purchase a unique key for each system to activate.

No, you *should* purchase a unique key if you want to abide by an EULA
you don't get to read until it's too late to get your money back. If you
wait 120 days from the last install/hardware replacement, you *can*
install Windows 7 on another computer and it will activate, update, etc.
It will activate HOWEVER - -
Lets say that you have multiple machines using the same key.
At some point, it's entirely possible that MS recognizes this, and
decides to lockout the key. (Provided that the machines are used on the
internet, that is, and there are enough to trigger whatever MS uses to
detect such things.)
But, if the key is tied to an OEM BIOS, and is the "generic" OEM key
for that OEM code, the chances are that there wouldn't be a problem.
At least until a very large number of machines are using the same key.
Say the mfr produced 5,000 and there are far more active machines using
the key.
(Assuming that the machine has the proper OEM code in it's BIOS, that
is!) Certain "replacement" motherboards actually had multiple OEM codes
stored in the BIOS.

Yes, you can reinstall. But you only have that option. You can not
repair. That is what I meant by "renew." Sorry that wasn't clear.
