Volume level too high

Hello,

I updated my notebook from Win XP to Win 7 and now the volume levels of
all applications / devices is much too high.
When I adjust all settings to the lowest volume level the sound is about
the same loudness as when I had the output of my Win XP at 50%.

I googled and found some guys with the same problem, but no solution to
it...

Thank you for any hints,
Jens

The brand and model notebook would probably be useful information.

Check with the manufacturer for updated drivers for everything.

Hi Bob,
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-71785

Try pressing the appropriate keyboard buttons to adjust the sound card
volume
it would be nice if the solution was that easy...
But the buttons just control the sound level of Windows and move the
volume slider in windows.

My problem is not that the volume can't be changed in Windows, but that
the lowest choosable volume level is much too loud - so I'm looking for
a possibility to turn down the GENERAL volume level of the system somehow.

Kind regard
Jens

HI,

I just noticed that the problem only occurs when I output sound via the
USB speakers (Logitech V10).
When I choose soundcard everything is working correct.

But USB speakers are already loud when put on level 1.

Kind regards

Are they still too loud if you turn the volume down on the speakers themselves (not in Windows)? If you have the speaker
volume as low as it will go, and Windows sound level as low as it will go, and it's still too loud, either there's a
problem with the speakers themselves, or your hearing is too good :)

Since the extreme loudness only occurs when the V10's are connected, I would check the Logitech forums for possible
solutions.

Hi Paul, Tom and Bob,

of course I tried the buttons of the speakers, they only control the
windows sound level so it's the same as if I would modify the volume by
using the slider in the windows task bar volume control.

Meanwhile I found in the Logitech forums that some models of their
speakers have these problems under Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Unfortunately there seems to be no proper solution for this problem
until now...

Kind regards
Jens

Hey guys! I had the same problem and saw your options but non of them worked for me, so i searched around on the controlpanel and saw that i had the sound system set on Surround 5.1, that was the reason the volume was way to high for me, so i set it to Stereo and my problem was fixed.
Hope this will help. Have a nice one!
