Unidentified beep

I don't know if this is Windows, my monitor, my motherboard or what. I'm
runnings Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, with an ASUS P6X58D Premium motherboard and a
Dell monitor with a sound bar underneath (no other speakers) . I keep getting
this "beep" now and then, usually when I launch a program. It's strange in that,
since I never know when it will happen, I'm not keying on anything in particular
so I don't know where it's coming from. It's been happening since I got this
sytem last June. I just decided to try and find out what it is. It sounds like
it's harmless, I'd just like to try and identify it. Any ideas? Thanks.

It's your cell phone. You have an unread message. You might also check
the microwave oven. Maybe dinner is ready.

I don't have a serious answer for you because this should really be
pretty easy to track down.

LOL!! I had a beep once that I couldn't find. It was pitched high enough
that it was hard to tell where it was coming from; it sounded like it was
from all around me. I looked at the smoke detector, checked my speaker
connections, thought maybe my DVD player was having a problem, and nothing,
couldn't find it. Then I was standing next to the table and heard it again-
it was my cell phone letting me know the battery was low, and needed
charging. Now if I hear it, I know what it is (hopefully)

I have a weather station and the display for it hangs on the wall just to
my right. If any of my readings go out of preset limits (high wind for
instance) then it beeps. It took me a couple of years to figure out that
it wasn't coming from my computer!

Is the beep coming from the speakers or from the computer?
To be honest, the nearest I can figure is it sounds like it's coming from my
monitor. It's a Dell U2410 24 inch monitor. Is there a way a beep could be
coming from a monitor? I mean, there's a sound bar attachned underneath it but
it's plugged into the computer for a source, and most of the time, it's turned
off.

Is there anything in the OSD of the monitor, pertaining to a beep function ?
Perhaps it can be disabled.
