TV Tuner Windows 7 compatible?

I'm looking for a TV tuner for a new system running Windows 7 Professional
64bit. All that I've found so far are not compatible. Anyone using a TV tuner
with Win7 and what kind? Thanks.

My Winfast Pvr 2 works ok in windows 7, if you discount the fact that
windows changes to Classic View whilst it working But. It also can be used
to tune into programmes inside Media Centre with out the Aero interface
disappearing.

All Hauppauge WinTV HVR-series tuners are compatible with Windows 7,
both 32-bit and 64-bit.

I'm using an HVR-1800 PCIe card with Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit).
Works well. I have to say, though, that the latest Hauppauge TV
application (version 7) is buggy. In fact, it wouldn't even work at
all in my setup. Version 6 works, but the native Media Center
application in Windows 7 is even better. Hauppauge provides the
drivers for use with Media Center.

application (version 7) is buggy. In fact, it wouldn't even work at

Not according to their specs on NewEgg. But thanks. I'll check int Hauppauge
again.

Not a lot of difference. Vista +windows 6 Win 7 = windows 6.1

It's too bad you don't know what you're talking about here. There are no
differences that much in the core components of those O/S(s).

I use Hauppauge's WinTV HVR-2250. It works great with Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit
and I see no reason why it wouldn't work with Professional as well.

I have the same card but in 64 bit Win7 and the WinTV works so much
better than Media center that I use it exclusively! I don't know what
your problem might be but you could try running the hcwclear.exe file
and then rebooting and re-installing, see if that helps?

Also check Microsoft's own Windows 7 hardware compatibility list.

I have the same card but in 64 bit Win7 and the WinTV works so much
better than Media center that I use it exclusively! I don't know what
your problem might be but you could try running the hcwclear.exe file
and then rebooting and re-installing, see if that helps?

I tried everything but WinTV 7 just kept freezing up and crashing.
After reading negative reviews online, I finally gave up on it. WinTV
6 works OK, but it has an ugly interface (it was supposed to be
skinable but they never got around to making alternate skins). Windows
Media Center works fine with the card, especially after I applied
Microsoft's two "hot fixes" (details on the Hauppauge website).

In general, Hauppauge has a reputation for lousy software support for
their products. It didn't use to be this way. It seems that recently
they're not devoting many resources to software development.

I think the HVR-2250 would be an excellent choice. (I'm thinking of
upgrading from my HVR-1800 to it myself.) The HVR-2250 is a PCIe
half-height board with dual receivers. It has internal connectors for
*two* auxiliary backplate A/V inputs. Thus, you can connect both a
satellite box and another device without switching cables. Plus, it
has an IR input and remote that will work directly with Windows Media
Center.

I use a pair of the SiliconDust HDHomeRun dual-tuner units, creating a
pool of 4 tuners that any PC on the network can use to schedule
recordings.

However, it does NOT say anywhere that Windows 7 is Vista. Windows 7 is
not Vista. It just talks about compatibility.

Are you this naive not to know that Vista is 6.0 and Win 7 is 6.1 are
practically the same O/S? All MS did was make a few adjustments to Vista
and came back out calling Win 7.

Don't you know that Vista, Win 2k8 server, Win 7 workstation, Win 7
server are using the same core components.

What turnip truck just rolled into town that you got out of?

Thanks. I'll go with Hauppague. Next question is, combo, dual, analog,
digital? I'm guessing digital as I have digital HD cable with
Cablevision, or Optimum IO. But what are dual and combo? I have no
rooftop antenna hookup so I don't need that. Any recommendayions as to
which of these cards? Is that $59 "hybrid" model alright? I won't get
HD as I need an HD box from my cable comjpany for that. I have a 24"
Cell U-2410 monitor. Thanks.
