I've just bought myself a 32GB Corsair Survivor USB drive for my backups, but as USB drives can easily be lost I've secured it using TrueCrypt: http://www.truecrypt.org/
If anyone want to secure data on any type of drive, this is a really good option to consider. It's free, open source software and works to all major encryption standards.
You can protect folders on your internal hard drives, or just use it on removable devices if you so wish. It's a really easy way to password protect sensitive files and folders
