SM Bus Controller Driver

In device manager there is an item with a missing driver called SM Bus Controller and it shows the following error message:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

I've tried running a search on Windows Update but nothing comes up and I don't know what else it could be?

Hi Budan, welcome to the site

If you could fill in the computer specs section in the User Control panel, I'll be able to point you to the exact driver you need. However it's more than likely you'll need to download the Intel Chipset drivers for your motherboard:

Just pick the Vista 32/64 bit application and run it in compatibility mode and it should work.

Windows 7 has generic chipset drivers for all but the oldest Intel chipsets. I bet it's NVIDIA.

Good point! If that's the case, download them from here for your nForce chipset:

If you let me know the motherboard I should be able to point you to the exact one

Thank you both, I am now up and running with the right drivers! I can't notice any improvement in speed though, but at least it is working properly.
