Notification task bar

I'm new to this group so this probably has been discussed before. My
notification area will not keep the settings I change. It may show
the icons I want for a few days, then reverts back to the default
settings. Never had this problem in XP, but Win7 defeats me.

I guess I'm the only one to ever have this problem, or there is no way
to fix it.

There are other possibilities.

One such is that no one who read your post knows how to fix it.

Ok, never had a problem like that, here are the settings I use:

Right click the taskbar and choose properties:
Taskbar & Start Menu Properties
Lock the taskbar, ticked
all others unticked
Location is Bottom
Taskbar buttons set to Always Combine, hide labels

Notification area click Customize
tick the box: Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar

click OK

click Apply (if it is greyed out tick another box and untick it again
then click Apply)

If that does not work there's a link here that may help or otherwise
try searching google for: taskbar icons resetting to default
