How come my reply doesn't have the <<< >>> in it and has a question mark at
the top.

Which is NOT the latest version... ;-)

That's because you're using a lame email/news program, Microsoft Windows
Live Mail 15.4.3502.922.

Try updating to the latest version of Windows Live Mail.....

It doesn't strip old signatures either, along with several other things.
Don't worry, the latest version is even worse :)

As Alias said, the only sensible thing you can do is to get a decent
newsreader. Anything you get will be a lot better. I personally prefer
Dialog or Thunderbird.

posts correctly. Or Seamonkey.
Get yourself one of these, and just put your USENET setup in it. You
can continue to do mail with whatever you normally use for mail.
This should post to USENET, without the "?", and with the quote marks
properly in place.

Am now trying Thunderbird, using the name Steve... hopefully better.
Will now leave the newsgroup and let it get on with Win 7 issues...
thanks all

I haven't visited any of the MS forums for awhile, but when I do, I use
a NNTP bridge and Thunderbird. I just tried it and was able to connect
to the Technet forums but not to the Answers forums.

Your Live Mail 15.4.3508.1109 doesn't post correctly either. Go back to
version 14 (2009) or get a better newsreader.
