LONDON – Microsoft Corp. has worked closely with U.S. intelligence
services to help them intercept users' communications through the
top-secret Prism program, according to documents obtained by the
Guardian. The U.K. newspaper reported on Friday that Microsoft helped
the National Security Agency to circumvent the encryption in Outlook.com
email, allowing the security agency to access messages. The U.S. tech
giant worked with the FBI to allow the NSA access via Prism to
Microsoft's cloud storage service, SkyDrive, the report said.

Cut!

Microsoft said in a statement, according to the Guardian, that "when we
upgrade or update products we aren't absolved from the need to comply
with existing or future lawful demands."

The Guardian article is here.

"Microsoft's latest marketing campaign, launched in April,
emphasizes its commitment to privacy with the slogan:

"Your privacy is our priority." <--- rly?
"

In a prioritized list, I guess that means it is on the bottom of the list ?

Should do wonders for the "cloud" businesses. If I'm a business executive
worried about industrial espionage, I know where I'm "storing my crap".
Safely at home.

And if your Skype isn't working very well, now at least you have a
few ideas why. Architecture compromise, for data capture.

I'm getting my two soup cans, and piece of string back out, for those
really private conversations.

So not the fault of Microsoft. Go join a lobbyist group to bash your
own government for mandating Microsoft allow your government to spy on
you. There are a lot of laws any business must obey when incorporated
in the USA.
