Playing spades at Yahoo. There is a box that pops up here and
says......loading games.yahoo.com or some such. It pops up over lobby
text and is very annoying. I don't know how to turn it off. Anyone
else experience this and how do you stop it?

Thanks

I guess I'd have to set up an "account", to test your web page.

The instructions here, seem to suggest the users have both
Javascript and Java turned on. Perhaps the message is
coming from some Java being loaded ? Maybe it's a Java
setting (something to do with Java console) that
needs to be turned off ?

Languages like Java and Javascript, need means to debug their
operation. Things like "console", allows watching as scripts
run and the like. It could be, that you've configured
something in your browser, which causes the popup.

Perhaps you were debugging a problem in the past, and
left a debugging feature turned on.

To debug web problems, you can use things like "View:page Source".
But if a web page designer wants to "hide their tracks", the page
source won't necessarily make it obvious, what they're doing.
And in this case, since I don't have an "account", I can't even
do basic debugging of the "Spades" game page.

I just went to the site to load a game of spades, first with IE9, then with
Firefox 4.0. After signing in and clicking on the spades link, a box pops
up to input a confirmation code. This is the so-called spam protection, and
was identical on both browsers. I continued and saw the lobbies and tables.
The only other pop-up was the game window itself, so I couldn't duplicate
what you saw. What version of FF are you using? Maybe I'll get it and try
it out sometime today.
I am using FF 4 0 1 The bar comes up on every page, but because it is
almost never in the way I never notice it except for playing spades.
It shows up lower left and has the URL in a box. It also must be FF
but I searched the settings and find nothing.

The link you gave *shows* the way to disable it ... use the Status4Evar
add-on (and then if required hide the status add-ons bar).
Thanks
An add-on to disable something.
