SOLVED How to delete programs that won't delete the usual way?

I have some programs from AVG that will not let me delete them from the control panel.
Is there some other way to delete them?
Thanks for any help with this - they are a pain in the derriere.

I've uninstalled AVG using Absolute Uninstaller. I think it just called up AVG's built-in uninstaller, but anyway, it seemed to work.
