Hi Ian,

I have a problem with my account in windows 7. It was named under my friend’s name earlier and I wanted to change this to mine.

Hence I went to control panel and applied the necessary changes.
It was ok everything changed to my name but the only problem is that the user folder with My Documents and etc. in C:\Users\ (Computer > C:\ > Users >) still remain unchanged.

I tried so many ways to change this but couldn’t do so. Is there a specific way to change it or do I have to create another account and delete the current one to get rid of this problem.

With many thanks.

Hi dilshan

You will need to create a new account and remove the existing account to change the folder name. You may need to change the existing one again if it has the name you want to use for the new account. You will also need to login to the new account in order to remove the existing account.
