Google has SSL

dont know if this has been posted b4 but google now has an SSL version in BETA here https://encrypted.google.com/

Is this a security issue that's being addressed here, this SSL deal? The reason that I ask, is that most browsers already has this. IE7 even has it.

He's not talking about Chrome; he means that Google allows using their search engine (and other products?) over SSL now.
