Something has gone wrong. The desktop and the windows size is a bit smaller than the screen size of the laptop. It is a bit like watching an old movie on a wide screen tv. There is nearly two inches of black screen on either side of the operating system.

Freebeer got his user name because he is a dinosaur that is providing free beer to the brother from hell that is helping him sort his crap out.

Putting the mouse over the sides of the screen and getting the double arrows to expand the screen does't work. There is still a couple of inches of black screen that it doesn't reach.

Thanks.

The brother from hell.

Hi there and welcome to the forums :).

If could be that your resolution isn't set high enough. Could you right click somewhere empty on your desktop and then click "screen resolution". Then, increase the resolution level a notch and see if it improves (if your display is detected correctly, you often want the number marked "recommended"). Do you have the model number for your laptop and I can see what the optimal resolution will be (plus it may help me find drivers if the resolutions listed aren't correct).
