cant find data in back up after factory reset

hi.
can anyone direct me in the process of accessing the data in a back up re loaded to an hp pc running windows 7. example msoft office reinstalled but on docs available in my docu ments.
does the back up need to be llaced somewhere specifically? i thought software was supposed to make things simple... thanks in advance

A factory reset restores the system to how it came from the factory before you ever touched it - that would mean none of your data. There is a huge difference between a system restore and a factory restore.
