Hi All, I updated my computer last November and it's been pretty crap since them. I downloaded Microsoft's debugging tool to analyse the reason why and just need someone to agree with what i think is wrong - I think there is a problem with the processor but do not want to go and buy another incase i'm not reading the debug file correctly. See the attached file and let me know what you think. If you need to know my set up let me know...............thanks in advance

Mate,

You need to put the crash dump files in a zip and then up load them.

Here you go - i didn't think to zip them. I used last night a BSOD viewer which told me the problem is with "Hal.dll" and "ntoskrnl.exe" but i do not have a scoobie what they refer to even after googling them.

It looks like the CPU, but I would suggest a couple of things.
  • Make sure that the fan is running on the CPU.
  • Monitor the CPU temperature.
  • Test the RAM.

When you say "I updated my computer last November". What exactly did you do?

Some tests:
hwInfo Logging:
  1. Download hwInfo, if you haven't already from HERE.
  2. Right click on HWiNFO64.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
  3. Click on "run"
  4. Click on "Sensors"
  5. Click on "Logging Start" Icon
  6. Choose a location where you can find the file. And choose a name, like MyPC.
  7. Click on "Save"
Logging is now running.?

Prime 95 Stress Test.
  1. Please download Prime95 from HERE.
  2. Unzip the file and run prime95.exe
  3. Options -> Torture Test
  4. Select "Small FFT's"
  5. Click on OK
You need to run the test for at least 6 hours. If all is good there will be NO errors.

After the 6 hours or a crash upload the logging file from hwInfo.

In Prime 95:
  1. Select the lower Window "Workers"
  2. Click on "Edit -> Copy Window"
  3. Paste the results to the forum or in a text file and upload it to the forum

Please run MemTest86. There software needs to run through at lease 8 passes. This will take some time, so maybe you need to let it run over night. Here is a HowTo on MemTest86.

Mate,

Perform the tests that I outlined above to make sure that software or something else is causing the crashes.

But, looking at the WHEA (Windows Hardware Error Architecture) records it doesn't look good.

I just don't want you to replace the CPU unless we have checked everything we can.

Shintaro,
I tested my memory with memtest86 and no problems were found, I did this test on each individual stick and then all four together ran the full test and no errors were found. One thing though, at the beginning on one stick i was messing around with the settings and jumped straight to test 11, at 38% in it failed but when i restarted the full test with 8 passes it passed??
Carried out Prime95 - BSOD after just a couple of minutes. I had HWinfo64 running so I could watch the CPU temps, they hit the high 80's even with the fans on full speed on my Antec Kuhler H2O 920. I've attached the latest crash mini-dump files plus the HWinfo file. Let me know what you think........

Solved! Bad workmanship on my part. I took the whole thing apart and started again and haven't had any problems since - live and learn:)
