some months ago i recieved the free download trial of win8, i have a external drive i plug into the usb, i was wondering if i can and how to install the win8 on the external drive. its a seagate free agent with 297gb free of 298gb.

This might be better posted in Win8forums. Registrations aren't automatically carried over their so you would need to register but Ian started that forum as well for all things Windows 8.

thank you, i didnt want to install it over my win7. since it is beta and a trial version.

I don't think it's possible.

Apparently it WILL be possible under a Win 8 system, see HERE but that doesn't help you today.

What you might consider instead is installing it into a Virtual environment like Oracle's VirtualBox under W7.
