Will this USB network adapter work with Win7

My nephew brought over a USB thumb drive and a USB network adapter he
thought was another thumb drive. We currently don't have a need for
the network adapter, but I decided to put the driver on the thumb
drive while I was here.

F5D7050 is the number my nephew read off the device.
I went to Belkin and downloaded the 1xxx driver. The instructions
don't say Win 7. Like I say, I only got the driver for it because he
may have a future need for a wireless adapter. Without trying it,
anyone know if I selected the correct driver and if I can expect it to
work with a computer with Win 7?

Metspitzer,
You will need to check the FCC ID for that device, and see if will work with
your OS.

Version 1XXX does not appear to be the right one for Win7. It appears
version 3XXX through 5XXX is the right one, depending on the FCC ID the
device has.

You could try and trace down the Wifi chipset, and get the driver
from the chipset manufacturer.

prism54 chipset

I suspect Intersil no longer has Prism info on their site. The
Wifi info stops around here, late in 2003. It's possible the later
Belkin Wifi adapters, aren't Prism based. (Each driver could be
for a different chipset, made by a different company, with
different possibilities of getting support.)

Your adapter is most likely to function under Linux. Or, you'll need
to find out, who bought Prism from Intersil and buried it.

The press release here, says they sold their Wifi division to GlobespanVirata
(never heard of them).

The Wikipedia article, as near as I can tell, looks like
they "shoveled dirt" on that stuff. You're not likely to find
a new driver now. There's no mention of Wifi on the Conexant site
that I can see.

Run it under an OS that supports it.

Here is a possible solution from the Windows Seven Forum:
