What is Microsoft's answer to Google Apps?

You wouldn't happen to be speaking of me, would you? What have I done to you to draw such a remark? I'm a regular on this forum, and do my best to help fellow members. Sometimes my answer isn't perfect, or it may not be what you want to hear. No one on this forum is perfect, if they were, they would be employed by Microsoft or another high profile/high paying position. Everyone has their own opinion, and that's by design. If I've done anything to you, PM me and let me know, otherwise, keep those type of remarks to yourself.
Thanks,
Cat
I apologize... I did not mean to upset you. I was just joking, since I find your opinions (Anything with Google's name on it hits the trash can.) and looks like such cliché. The comment from Core (Sometimes reading this forum is like watching Fox News.) made me laugh at your expense. I am sorry. I am sure you mean well, and you help a lot, but maybe you'd want to ask your self, what good does that do to you, if you can't laugh at your self from time to time? I admit I know nothing of you, but even this second thing ever I read from reinforces in my head the stereotypical idea of you I just find hilarious. I don't know. Maybe I am just jealous, please don't be mad at me for telling you this, just take it as a stupid quip from a guy who's got 20-20 eyesight, zero body fat, and hair..., and that is probably all I have..., that and certain fondness for google... Actually I don't care for google as much either, but windows 7 was nasty to me the other day, and maybe I am just taking it out on you, since you are such and easy target... Just my silly bully attitude... I hope you can forgive me..., and maybe change the picture, since shallow people like me sometimes can't hold their horses, and if you can't take it, I suggest replace it with something more vague, like the rest of the smart people here do... I know, maybe you don't get me... I guess in North Carolina you could pass for skinny and handsome, but just try to imagine all the TV and movies they make fun of nerds like you (Sarah Silverman show comes to mind of top of my head), and how does that could sit with a guy from sophisticated place in Europe, when they see you, and read how everything from pretty successful and revolutionary company should be thrown away in to trash... Most of the people like google..., most of the people like pretty... Learn to live with it... The only time people tolerate smart, is when it's humble..., and try to remember that...

I honestly could not care less if my IP and/or searches were recorded. I'm not searching for kiddie porn, or bomb schematics, or al-Qaeda application forms.

I really don't understand this anti-Google mentality which doesn't seem to be rooted in any practical or realistic concerns. Not everyone is out to get you.
Yep I agree. Why should I be worried about google having my information recorded? I think I actually like it, since I am not in to kids porn either. I think if I have to subjected to commercials and adverts, I prefer to ones I am interested in anyway. I rather have chicks in bikinis trying to sell me gadgets, then some sad mums telling me which detergent, or nappies are the best. That make sense to me.
Could anybody explain to me why is the recording of the information really so bad?

I'm not sure I get your sense of humor, (and I pride myself on recognizing this) but that doesn't matter. In the off topic section of this forum one needs to have thick skin.

Anybody who has been here long enough and gets to now catilly from his posts knows he has a big heart and loves to help people, even if he lists heavily toward the M$ way.:) And we also will never know the pain he endures daily from his unseen disability.

I use google search and have a gmail account. The tracking thing doesn't bother me any more because I have never been affected negatively by it. And every site does it. If google can't give me the results I'm looking for there are many other alternatives. I have never used their online apps except Maps and Picasa in the old days. Google is a tool to be used and the more you know about the tool the better off you'll be.

For me personally, it must be my Libertarian views and ideas. Many people like Google, I used to until I found out some things that really bothered me about it.

So now I use Ixquick search engine only.

I am currently changing my email client from gmail to @Safe-mail.net because of their privacy and absolute no selling of email addresses period. Not as much eye-candy as gmail and not as big of storage, but it's free and very secure.

Anybody here thought of getting a custom domain? They're pretty cheap and you can control everything.

If you're Father would be willing to contribute to the Nibiru2012 Evangelistic Temple of The Quickening, then I could afford a custom domain.

It's tax free donation for him!

OK I am sorry. If you say he's a good guy, I don't doubt it... I did not meant to say otherwise anyway... All I was reacting to was, that everywhere I look, I see google on peoples PC's, and this expert says it belongs to garbage... It felt tom me like he was saying that he knows better about all those people in the cars, from his horse... Maybe he's right. Maybe the Microsoft is our big daddy, and we all need to recognise and follow... From where I stand, it looks to me, like a google is a good friend but maybe it's just me...

Yes.

Though, it isn't just google. It's nearly all the websites. For example this forum, if Ian wants to ban someone, he can block the account AND the IP. Also, all searchs are recorded in the database.

How cheap is cheap, Fire Cat? I've seen where you can get one as low as $10 on eBay, and you'll make a fortune off the ads, but I was a little leery of it. I wasn't born yesterday, it takes more than $10 to make a fortune.

I have been telling people for months that Google got it's initial funding from the N.S.A. and D.A.R.P.A., and still to this day a lot of current funding.

Think about it... Google Street Maps? Was that really necessary?

Recording every IP address that uses Google and then storing it for 18 months?

I agree, though, you can't deny that Google Street Maps can be nice. For example, you're in some forein country. You're walking around, and you can quickly take out your phone and look at your whereabouts from a street point of view.

Maybe Google could have an official reason to record every piece of data you enter in their site. Stats?

The entire Internet was based on military-funded (ARPA) r&d. So what?

What does any of this have to do with how Microsoft's Live services compare to Google Apps?

Could we perhaps have a separate forum for these tinfoil theories which are becoming more and more prevalent on these forums?

I was merely stating fact, not "tinfoil theories".

Core - for your benefit I'll refrain from anymore comment in this section, especially since I don't use Google Apps.

I apologize. I was unnecessarily rude. Please feel free to add your input to this thread, and/or any other thread of mine.

I was just frustrated because this is a pretty important matter for me to figure out. I switched from Google Apps to Windows Live, and then back to Google, and back to Live Custom a few days later. To make the most of these services one really has to "build" them, ie add contacts, calendar events, birthdays, mailing addresses, etc, and I have found that these are not very easy to transfer from one service to another. So the more informed the decision, the better.
