Username/password error

I

Ian Kennedy

Hi,
Using win7 x64, and outlook 2007.
Now getting username/password not recognised ( 0x800CCC90 ).
My account is ok on another machine.
I have unistalled Office 2007, cleared everything I can, re-installed, and
my old account came up.
Went to control panel, mail, and deleted all profiles, now cannot connect to
my mail server with that user name/password.
It has to something deep within Win 7 that has become corrupted...anybody
got any idea?
Many thanks

Does the problem show up when you attempt to receive email, or when
you attempt to send email, or both? Have you verified that the server
name is correct? The respective ports for sending and receiving are
correct? Your username is correct? Password is correct? Any security
required by your email provider is in place?

If you checked all of that and didn't find the problem, enable error
logging in Outlook so you can see what's going on.

Error Logging is a feature in Outlook 2007 that’s used to troubleshoot
technical issues. It keeps a log file of email and calendar events in
Outlook. Here’s how to enable or disable this feature.

1. Under the Tools menu, click Options.

2. On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.

3. Check (enable) or uncheck (disable) the Enable logging
(troubleshooting) box.

4. Click OK twice and restart Outlook. Logging Enabled should appear
in the title bar.

The log file is created at C:\Users\user
name\AppData\Local\Temp\Outlook Logging\OPMLog.log in Windows Vista.
For Windows XP users, it will be created at C:\Documents and
Settings\user name\Local Settings\Temp\Outlook Logging\OPMLog.log

Windows 7 is probably similar to Vista, but you may need to look
around for the log file. It should be able to tell you in some detail
what's going on.
