Well, Google may not have archived this group, but it is archived here back
to 2009:

You'll have to register to use the search feature, but it appears to me not
to work within the archive. Good luck.

You asked a very similar question in this newsgroup in October 2011
and one of the responses (from Zaidy036) suggested right clicking on a
Firefox tab and selecting "Pin as App Tab".

By chance, is that what you're looking for?

They are using Forte Agent. And there is no CTRL-H to view replies to
their posts. So what do you want?

That is not it, but it is a very cool feature. I maybe should have
tried the suggestion the first time someone suggested it.

Thanks

I have this group archived back to December 2009 and I guess I'm not
seeing what you're looking for. Good luck, though! I hope you find
what you're looking for, and when you do, please share it with the
group. Not only will you help others, but next time you forget the
trick one of us will be able to help you remember it.

I guess you haven't been following the thread.

As for your beloved CTRL-H, I don't have it, I don't need it, and I've
never missed it.

Another way is in a FF window under File click on Open New Window or
<Ctrl>+N
also can Right Click on FF in Task bar and choose "Open New Window"

Of course you don't need it. Those that read every single post certainly
don't need it. It is only for those that don't have the time to read the
whole USENET. ;-)

Sorry, I can't explain it any better. There was a setting I changed,
somewhere, and it caused the FF icon I had pinned to the task bar to
stay an icon. If I clicked on it, it would open another FF on the
taskbar and the original icon remained unchanged and it never changed
position. What ever the setting was also let me rearrange the order
of all the tasks opened on the task bar so all the FF tasks were not
grouped together.
You probably pinned a shortcut to the taskbar instead of what the
taskbar prefers (which is a program, as it were).

Next time you get a new icon after starting FF, click on the *new* icon
and pin it, then upin the first icon.

I just verified that behavior, so if you can't make it work, you're
doing something else wrong.

I don't doubt that I am doing something wrong, but a "new icon" is
still a shortcut, right?

After pinning FF to the task bar, any other instance I try to right
click on to pin it only gives the option to unpin it.

Thanks

Does "7 Taskbar Tweaker" ring a bell? If I'm reading correctly, it
claims to be able to let you drag icons around the taskbar (not as a
group, but individually), and one of the comments seems to indicate
that app icons will appear on the taskbar in the order that they were
opened, like the way previous Windows worked.

I haven't tried it (yet), so let us know if it does what you want.

I almost always pass on any add on programs. Although many are
useful, the ones that are harmful prevent me from even trying 3 rd
party stuff.

It may do what I want, but I am sure that is not what I used to get it
that way.

Thanks for all your suggestions. With so many people willing to help
for free, I can't believe Usenet is dying.

USENET does not get the PR. The Web, the Web, the Web: it is
about all some know about the Internet. USENET? They never heard of
it.

Sincerely,

Gene Wirchenko
