to speed up your internet explorer, disable the BHO's. ie9 will show you a list of what is slowing the browser down. i gave firefox a try. i have friends on club pogo that used firefox and got viruses with it. some got hacked using firefox.
my laptop had google and something with google interferred with windows. google has to many add ons.
with ie9 if i try visiting a unsafe website , a message appears on bottom saying contents were blocked due to unsafe web user.

What a crock, I use FF never got a virus, I also use Google Chrome and no problems with it. I also use IE9 they all work fine never received virus using various browsers. I would suggest your friends either went to a web page they should not have, or they did not have an up to-date Anti Virus Program alond with other programs such as super-anti-spyware, Malware-Bytes and such

Browser security can be a touchy subject. The fact is you and your anti-virus are responsible, if your AV does not include an add-in to FireFox but it does to IE then sure your Firefox is less protected. There are also numerous add-ins that can help signal malicious sites and/or disable scripting that are available for some browsers but not others. And what sites trigger those alerts depends on who is maintaining the list so Microsoft has a list, Norton has a list, McAfee has a list, etc, and they never match perfectly.

As I have said, your browser is a personal choice and I'm glad you are happy with IE but I am happy with FireFox, I also used to love Netscape years ago.
