no sound - for the nth time

I know. It's been asked upteeen times. But I have no sound at all on windows 7 Professional. My speakers are in. Everything else is fine./ Just no sound at all. Otherwise Windows 7 is pretty good.

I've read so many forums. But no suggestion that I have tried works.

I'm at the stage where I am about to dual boot with Linux to get sound on a Linux box. I need sound; I am a student of online stuff such as VTC.

I went from Windows Xp home to Win 7.

Can you go Start > Control Panel > Sound you should see a green tick next to Speakers >
