keyboard/mouse malfunction

Hello running windows 7 on pentium 4, 2 gb of ram, 1tb hard drive. Keyboard and mouse all of sudden stopped working. Can not boot up. Was successful in booting up using tab button so the hard drive is ok but I can't do much with just the tab key. Tried booting in safe mode and repair drive says not is wrong to fix. tried backing up to previous restore point did not fix problem. Tried restoring from image backup from second partition same results. can any one help. I tried using different keyboard same result. baffling! Thank you. Xandr

Hi.

I can't see why it would have changed on it's own, but it's worth a check in the bios settings to see if USB support is enabled.

I always keep a PS/2 keyboard for back-up. If you have access to this type keyboard I would recommend trying that.
