How to set up telnet for windows7 for cisco devices?

I have downloaded telnet for my windows7 and trying to use it for my cisco lab. I am using a usb to serial cable to connect to my console port on my cisco router but I still am unable to connect. can anyone assist?

There's others too. Bing or Google search "telnet for windows 7 - cisco", w/o the quotes. Hope this helps.
