How to restore windows.old

i am having windows 7 ultimate. i was having some problem with booting of my laptop so i showed it to a computer mechanic and he reinstall the windows 7. now my all the programs installed is vanished and as i know it got stored in windows.old folder and i can restore it by some way but dont know how to. please help me how to retore my all the softwares installed before from windows.old folder. i checked this folder is there in c drive. please help me guys
