Do you know if each one is legitimate? I don't think so. That's why sites like C|Net Downloads, tucows, FileHippo, and of course, MajorGeeks are so popular - and note these sites put a description of each program.

I also have to warn users that MOST free programs are free for non-commercial, home use only.

Frankly, I appreciate the work that went into this list, but because security is such an critical issue, I am not in favor of posting it unless there is a team of dedicated experts (preferably on staff) willing to maintain it, and vet each entry. That's just my opinion and I'm not on staff here.

I know. But my point was links are not very useful (and are some times suspicious) if they don't work. And some folks may not understand why, or how to correct it. And if they do know why they are broken, there may not be enough information in what remains of the full link for some users to figure it out. Yes, you can search on the program name, but that defeats the purpose of having a "convenient" list.

I think things would go down better if we would ALL try and help each other out with things like this, what i mean is intead all this criticism we should be giving advice and explaining how we would all like things to be displayed and explaining about what not to take from other sites, as bladerunner did say from the begining what was his and what was not.

i have had criticism myself over certains things about people saying things are pointless and so on. myself in particular is new to forums and guidance and assistance/Help and praising for their efforts is what we all need, we should all pull together as a close forum community helping each orther out as and when required.

just feel there is a lot of bickering going on when we should thinking of ways to make the forum more attractive to folk that visit ie rescourses at hand but obviously staying within the guidelines.

maybe we need to boost the moral on the forum in someway,
