Can't use Gigabyte Update?

K

Kenny Cargill

Gigabyte have an update tool here:
http://www.gigabyte.com/webpage/19/download-center.html
but nothing happens when I try to download and use it, tried both in Firefox
and IE.
There's an MS update listed as known to cause problems, I don't have this
installed.
When I click "Go" I should get a trusted warning dialogue "When entering
GIGABYTE Download Center for the first time, a trusted content dialog window
will pop up, please click "Yes" button to accept in order to proceed to next
step. " This doesn't appear, I don't know why.
Reason I want to use this is that whilst I know my m/b model I don't know
the revision no. to get correct drivers and am trying to avoid opening case.
Replies appreciated.

Hi, Kenny.

I never had a Gigabyte mobo, but both the Belarc Advisor and Speccy report
my MSI mobo as Version 1.0:

Belarc:
Main Circuit Board
Board: MSI 890FXA-GD70 (MS-7640) 1.0

Speccy:
Motherboard
Manufacturer MSI
Model 890FXA-GD70 (MS-7640) (CPU1)
Version 1.0

Both Belarc and Speccy are free for non-commercial use:
Belarc: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Speccy: http://www.piriform.com/speccy

Bingle may find other such tools, but I find that both of these easy to use
and understand. Each takes a while to examine your system, then reports a
lot more information than I can quickly absorb! ;<)

Tried both Belarc and Speccy, neither gave me the board version, also tried
SiSoft Sandra. Looks like I'll have to open the case.

What _did_ Belarc say under the "Main Circuit Board" heading (right-hand
column, second heading down, at least in version 8.2f of Belarc)?

(You did let it finish? It takes ages on this machine.)

Hi, Kenny.

As John suggested, please paste the few relevant lines from both Belarc and
Speccy. There are many techie readers here and they may be able to spot
clues that you and I miss - if they can see the actual reports.
