Bad_Pool_Header

Hi all,
There was an automatic update installed from Microsoft this morning and now my system constantly receives the blue screen saying the Bad_Pool_Header. The recommendation is to perform diagnostics but i can't even get to the desktop to run virus software. I tried to restore to backup and it failed.

Am I better off just reinstalling Windows7? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
