Earlier was having probs with Internet, so went into Tools, Internet Options
and set the default level. Cured everything EXCEPT the back arrow no longer
works.

The only way I can get previous pages, is to click Refresh, THEN click the
back arrow. Help please.

Thanks Jim, I have IE9 for Win7.
You could try updating to IE10. If you had said you already had done
that, I might have recommended going back to IE9 :)

However, first try starting IE without addons you will find it in start>
all programs > accessories > system tools

Or just type or paste: iexplore.exe -extoff
into the 'search programs and files' window

If IE with no addons does not have the problem then you would need to
identify which addon was causing the problem by clicking on tools >
'manage add-ons' in normal IE mode and disabling a couple of add-ons at
a time.

It might be a problem of the particular site you are visiting. Try holding
down the Back button and see what your 'history' looks like. The first Back
option may just be a reload of the page.

Can't see anything in add-ons (there isn't much there).
Upgraded to IE10 but still no joy.
I have been using Avast 'Site blocker' recently to kill pop-ups, but this
shouldn't effect it?

Thanks but every site I look in has been effected - Google, Yahoo, eBay,
Amazon etc.
I suspect it may be settings in 'Internet Options'. I wish I hadn't selected
'restore default'
I switched temporarily to 'Firefox' and it worked ok.

Thanks Jim and KCB, problem is resolved. When in Internet Options, I reset
to the default level, it also reset the IE homepage from regular Google to
Google chrome. As you know, chrome automatically "disables some of your
extensions to make Chrome faster".

When I swapped the homepage back from Chrome to Google - the back arrows
started working again!! The other plus is I've upgraded from IE( to 10.
