ac97 driver code 10

[Biohazard]

hi i just recently installed windows 7 and i have no sound. i have tried many realtek drivers, but they all end with the same result. This device cannot start. (Code 10). The current audio driver i have installed came from the windows update. which is realtek ac97' version 6.0.1.6293. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated....i really need my sound...

You should be able to download a Windows 7 driver for your Realtek card from this URL:

As Clifford says, more information will help us help you a great deal Which sound card or motherboard (if it's an onboard sound card) do you have?

Im sorry, Its an abit kv7...so its onboard sound. i have already tried the driver from their site. i also tried running it in compatability mode for vista. and still no go.

Forgive me if I am wrong but I did not see any drivers for Vista at abit.com. Vista compatibility may not work with XP drivers.
