Ok, thought for sure you were trolling...
my remark was meant more for it's humor content than malice.
May be you should change your nick from philo to sarky then... ;-)

But ne'er worry. We all get shirty sooner or later. Unlike Philo, Sarky
(from sarcasm) is, I would have thought, rather apt for such moments. --

My logic is this:

If you went to a website and maybe downloaded a pdf to a temp location
to looks at some document...then forgot about it a few days later, that
would be one thing...

but for anyone to download 1.6 gigs of something...
it's unfathomable that one would waste their time downloading something
that *huge* and have absolutely no clue what it was.

Anyway it was all worth it because I learned a new word

"sarky"

Had I know you were a Brit, I would have given you a break there :)

Also choro is a regular here. I do think he's a bit of a troll, but he's
one of *our* trolls ;-)

Good Guy

Recently I downloaded something the details of which are fuzzy to me. It
was towards dawn and I was very drowsy. I downloaded this thing from
Microsoft which was absolutely massive --around 1500 MB. I remember I
was interested in backups as well as installing an additional OS on my
Win7 machine at the time. Unfortunately I had to be away right the next
day for several weeks and now I can't clearly remember the details or
what I was doing at the time. What could this thing be that was so massive?

Since then when I switch on my Win7 computer, it gives me the option to
choose the OS; whether to start Win7 OR whether to do a Macrium Reflect
System Recovery. I had installed the paid 64 bit Professional version of
Macrium Reflect not long before this massive download, whatever it was,
from Microsoft. Anybody out there who knows as to what this massive
download could have been?

After I wrote the above, I slept on it. I vaguely remember that I was
planning on installing WinXP on my Win7 machine. Could it have been MS
software to prepare my Win7 machine for installing a second OS, which I
suspect it is.

Anybody out there who can throw light on this? After all it is not every
day that one downloads 1.5 GB files to install on one's computer. --

If you post the name of the file you have downloaded, then we could try
to tell you what it is.

Are you related to Bo Xi Lai by any chance? I have some news for you
about him.

Good luck.

Had you followed the conversation you would have noticed the name of the
1.66GB file mentioned. But I guess there is no harm in repeating it...

It was the KB3AIK_EN.iso file with the AIK standing for Automated
Installation Kit.

"Read-AllAboudit"... as the newspaper hawkers used to call out in London
in the old days standing on street corners selling the evening papers...

And no I am not related Bo Xi Lai nor even Bo Xilai. So what is the news
about him? His wife cuckolded him for starters! That much I know. What else?[/QUOTE]

Meanwhile, I'm still laughing at philo's - I mean Sarky's - post just

Gotta go tell him before I forget.

Now I'm afraid for my next breakfast. What have you done to me?

I'll have to find out where I can watch Red Dwarf on this side of the
pond and of the continent. I haven't for years, and it seems to be have
changed in the clip above. But it won't be hard to find.

Care for a side of computer morality story?

As might be expected from the URL, it has toasters, well, a discussion
of toasters.

Maybe the writers of Red Dwarf read that issue of Computer Language.

I wonder what the author would think about my phone. It can take photos,
get the Net, play music, play games ...... oh and it can also send and
receive voice-mail and text.

And now that we're going onto 4G here in the UK, God alone knows just
what my next phone will be able to do.

You got a different type of Red Dwarf from ours; just like you got a
different type of The Office.
That's what happens. We produce comedy programs too advanced for USA
consumption, so they have to remake them. And the USA ones of which I've
seen bits just aren't funny.
That's why I like to comment on your sense of humour. It seems
recognisable to me.

One thing I can predict with almost total certainty: it will find a way
to drain your bank account :)

Back when I occasionally watched it, maybe 1.5 decades ago, I *think* I
watched imports of the British version. But maybe it *was* too advanced
for me. After all, I did drift away from it.

Thank you. And maybe that's why my humour gets me into trouble so often.
