zipping files

Using W7 Home Premium 64 bit,
when trying to zip some folders for backup on a flashdrive I discovered
that Windows zip utility will not zip folders that contain file names
that have non-latin alphabet names - even though Windows Explorer can
see and open them fine.

Is there a way around this?

Are there free zip utilities that do not have this limitation?

Thanks, Jeff

Microsoft products aren't designed for efficiency! The current industry
standard is now 7-zip and it is available for free from this link:

Good luck and let us know what you think of it.

Why would anyone have to go to some unknown 3rd party site to obtain a
download for 7-zip? Just because 7zip is in that domain name doesn't
mean it is a domain owned and managed by 7zip.com. Who knows what you
get from a sham site. Get it direct from the software vendor at:

Thank you. I was familiar with 7zip but forgot about it. It works fine.
