Jmatt, this thread is over a year old so I'm sure they have resolved the problem by now but perhaps your idea might help someone else who happens to find this thread in a search, so thank you for your input.

Thanks TrainableMan, yes I spent hours googling & trying to find a fix, a hint somewhere was enough for me to try Remove Fake Antivirus, so adding it to what is a very good post, is my way of perhaps helping other googlers.

Well looking at the softpedia ratings it seems to work pretty well so it might definitely be worth trying by someone in such a predicament.
