Windows search problem

I have an old separate hard drive.
i did a search for *.psd it found 5.
on the drive is a folder called PSD which has hundreds of them
so i went to that drive and did a search. it found none!
helpful ideas very welcome!

There are various attributes that files can have such as hidden or system which could affect results with windows search & file manager results.

What you might do is try a different search program. Check out the "Portable Zip 64-bit version" of Everything (or "Portable Zip" if you only have a 32-bit OS installed). It is a free search program that may work better for you.

i've had unpredictable results with windows search also. after every time i run a search, i close the window, and open a new one instead of reusing the same window. not sure why
