And that is only one aspect. The search index is a effectively a
summary of everything on your hard disk which you have allowed to be
indexed.
Which -- again -- chops off your rant at the knees. The index isn't
a security risk because the whole content is already there.
Yeah, but it's not *indexed* if you disallow search indexing.

I found PowerDesk 8 after a suggested recommendation by a trusted
friend.

It is not free but there is a trial version. So far, it exceeds my
needs. I will most likely pay for the License!

If you're going to spend money, look at Directory Opus also.
It's even more comprehensive than PowerDesk.
I've been using it for a while.
