Win7 File Copy Problem

That brings up the question "Is there a low budget way" to locate
duplicate files on a drive or a group of folders?

If not, is there a program available that someone can recommend?
There are many, but I've settled on Duplicate Cleaner because it
offers some very flexible ways of dealing with dupes. I use Version
2.1.0, (freeware), but I see that they have a newer paid version, too.

Delete all but one file. Then, there can not possibly be a
duplicate.

I got in a time crunch so I bought "EasyDuplicateFinder" (currently
$40).
I rank it very good except:
Installs to a single machine
Works on network attached storage but not to machines on the
network. (So far!)
I don't know about speed, all of my needs have been on USB or
Network Attached storage.

It gives a lot of choices of how to handle your particular conditions.
The user interface is easy to understand and it offers the choice of
permanent deletes, delete to recycles or don't delete. There is a
provision to download the results in several formats so that you can
manipulate your files outside of search program.

I would buy it again!
Thanks for all of the pointers though. I will still check them out...
Sometimes it is very inconvenient to physically move data to my main
machine!

Very interesting. 'Time crunch' doesn't really explain why you didn't
just use one of the many free ones, which I suspect are as good as
what you bought.

Yea, I just went and downloaded the free FreeFileSync at sourgeforge.
Seems to overcome what shouldn't be a problem using Explorer (e.g.
copying large files/folders and ending up with same as original).
