Search software and SSDs

You can right click on a folder (but not a filename) and choose Search
Everything.

That's good enough for me, but I can't speak for you :)
I'll give it a try.

It's FAST, AND easy, but only searches folder and file names.

And it works fine, from my so far limited test.
Searched my laptop and 5 external drives with
over 5 terabytes of space (on USB2 connections) in
about 5 minutes, and found what I asked it for.
To clarify a bit, Everything Search only needs to build its index one time,
barring scenarios where you actually want it to do so again. Once the index
is built, searches are instant. I don't mean to say that they are simply
faster than Windows Search, but that results are displayed in real time, as
you type.

That's not quite true. It has to keep track of changes.

I often see a delay when I search, but IIRC, I have turned off
Everything's background indexing, so the delay is not a surprise.

In any case, the delay is very brief :)

Ok, waitaminute. :) How can you complain about the relative lack of speed
when you've taken explicit steps to slow it down? Just put it back to normal
and let it fly.

There's no evidence that I was complaining.
