Ricoh SD Card Reader

New Vostro 1015 with Windows 7 does not read SDHC cards.
I am not interested in the easy USB card reader solution.
I have seen "hot fixes" for XP card readers which enable them to
read SDHC.
Is there such a fix for Windows 7?

Presently, under device manager, Disk drives/Ricoh SD Disk Device
and under IDE ATA/Atapi controllers.... Ricoh PCIe Memory Stick Host Controller
and .... Ricoh PCIe SD/MMC Host Controller

There are dozens of similar complaints all over the web.

I would appreciate your advice.

The card reader will either support reading SDHC cards or it will not support reading them. If your card reader does not support reading SDHC card, replacing the card reader is your only option. If there is a "Hot Fix", it will be for the device drivers not the operating system.
