Remove IE9?

It turns out that this entire thread was a troll from some bitter idiot from
the ubuntu newsgroup.
I would suspect it's the loon 7 that is a regular in the COLA asylum.

They are not meant to mean anything to a complete idiot. My messages
are meant for people with some intelligence. From your recent postings,
people have come to the conclusion that your level of intelligence
remains much to be desired.

You still abusing young boys? Have you been relieved from Megan's law
already or have you changed your identity?

Don't you continue abusing young boys otherwise Cellco Partnership DBA
Verizon Wireless will bust your bonny-ass to pieces!

How nice to know that it was malice and not the apparent stupidity :)

Thanks for the info.
What a loon that one is, but you'll find Linux lunatics out there that
were trained and set loose out of al-Qa'ida COLA.

This question has doubtlessly been asked before, but please bear with me.

The time it takes when Windows Update downloads and installs updates to
IE9 is rather annoying, since I do not use it anyway. My web browser is
Firefox.

The answer is probably just to uninstall IE9, but how do I go about that
please? I have Googled quite a lot, but the solutions all seem to involve
installing an earlier version. I don't want any versions of Internet
Explorer.

Surely this is easy, and I am missing something obvious, but what is it?

Thanks.
I was thinking removing FF. After installing FF4 I cannot see multiple
addresses in hotmail, I have to retype the whole address each time I want
to use a different one. I revert back to 3.6.8. When FF5 came out, I've
tried it, same problem, revert back to 3.6.8. The problem is after
installing FF4, I lost the capability to have multiple hotmail addresses
remembered in IE8 too and going back to FF 3.6.8 only fixed that problem in
FF not IE.

And I remember when I installed FF earlier this year, I caught a virus a
few days later but MSSE intercepted it, never happened with IE, so that
makes me think that FF is not that safe and IE is not that dangerous.

Now if I can get hotmail to remember my multiple addresses in IE, I would
gladly remove FF and move on.

the 'N' editions [...] do not exclude Internet Explorer
Yes they do IE if and if it is included in the N version uninstalls
completely without affecting any other programs and not leaving any
footprint. IE and the MP are not tied to the system as it is here.
European Council won against Microsoft and MS cannot tie those 2 apps to
the OS with their versions being distributed and sold in Europe under
the N version.

LOL. Never ceases to amaze that people do not know some things and yet they are
always wrong.

In Windows 7 N versions you can remove IE without leaving a foot print. As a matter
of fact you can remove IE from all versions of Windows after their release of March
2008

That's what shortcuts are for. IE calls them favorites.

LOL! So what? That is really funny. I'll bet you'll walk into a wall.
Someone told you the wall was there prior to you walking into the wall.
You said "so what?" before you hit wall.

<VBG>
Are you asserting that IE is no longer integrated into the OS in win 7?

I'm not talking about URL's, I'm talking about email addresses in the drop
down list on the hotmail login page.

He's admitted he's a troll, you can safely ignore him from now on.

I use both Ubuntu and Windows, and I don't see why some people can't
just live with whatever somebody else's choice is. I've personally been
able to fix Windows by using Linux, and I've done the same vice-versa.
So I keep them both installed on the same machines.

I was a little bored on Tuesday, so started a thread on
alt.windows7.general entitled "Remove IE9?".

I confess that I was trolling; and have no interest whatsoever in IE9 or
Windoze. I just got sick of all the wintrollmorons here.

It does seem to have been fairly successful, however.

I don't understand why MS is making IE a part of the OS. I don't like it
taking up space which could be used for something efficient.

Taking up space? It's a *tiny* amount of space. You are worried about
peanuts.

IE takes up 731KB of disk space here. At today's hard drive prices,
when you can buy a 500GB drive for about $50 US (or even less), the
value of that 731KB is less than one-hundredth of a penny.

I take back what I said above. You are not worried about peanuts. Even
a single peanut is worth more than that 731KB.

I think you're being too generous. Newegg frequently sells 1TB drives
for $49.99. :)

Thanks for the reply, but I'm afraid I don't follow. Why should I be

At this point I am wondering if you are being purposely dense. The
answer has been provided several times but I'll try and explain it
differently.

Internet Explorer is not a "program" in the sense that you can just
uninstall it if you have no use for it. The core functions of IE are
an integral part and used by the Windows operating system for many
different things such as navigation within the folder systems and such.
If you try to remove IE completely from the OS you will also cripple
the system so badly it will become unusable.

Remove the icons to IE and set up your system for Automatic Updates
late at night so you won't have to look at it getting updated.
